Remote Operated WWTP Dredging

Project: Water Dredging the Wongan Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant
Client: Water Corporation
Location: Wongan Hills, WA

To mitigate the risk of heavy sludge accumulation and compromise the performance of the greater Perth wastewater treatment system, the Water Corporation required dredging services for the Wongan Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant, located 182 km northeast of Perth.

APEX Envirocare was awarded the tender to supply and execute the dredging, a vital step in maintaining the efficiency of the town’s wastewater management system—an integral component of its infrastructure.

After assessing the issue, the expert team at APEX Envirocare proposed a targeted solution using the Mudcat 40E Dredge. Using knowhow and state of the art of equipment, the team could effectively desludge the treatment plant restoring the pond to its full capacity.

We executed a specialised dredging process, designed to manage high-density sludge and optimise its separation from water and sediment. With the right equipment for the job, our expert operators were able to deliver efficient sludge removal, ultimately restoring the plant to optimal functionality.

The dredging of the Wongan Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant delivered significant benefits. By effectively removing heavy sludge accumulation, the process restored the pond to its full operational capacity, ensuring the wastewater treatment system performs at optimal levels.

This proactive maintenance not only prevents future performance issues but also extends the lifespan of the town’s essential infrastructure, saving money and protecting the health of the residents contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the wastewater management program.
